Stake review: What Reddit actually thinks + bonuses

Here’s my review and analysis about Stake. Stake.com is probably the biggest and most heavily marketed crypto casino in the world. It’s everywhere: An official partner of UFC, Drake, Everton FC, and the Stake F1 team.

However, my AI powered analysis reveals a lot of concern. The real user sentiment on Reddit and Bitcointalk.org gambling section is not as positive as you would expect from a leading crypto casino.

My verdict

If you are looking for a seamless experience for small amounts ($50 – $500), Stake is functionally the best in the world. However, my Reddit sentiment analysis suggests a clear and present danger for high-rollers. The community data suggests that Stake has pivoted from a crypto-first anonymous platform to a compliance-heavy institution.

After my extensive analysis of thousands of Reddit and forum comments, Stake gets a Trust Score of 30.2 (Risky).

You probably know how Stake looks, but here’s a reminder.

Also, if you value your privacy and want a no questions asked crypto experience (like Stake used to before 2020), I would not choose Stake anymore.

However, if you want a site that will definitely be here in five years, handles millions in volume daily, and offers some of the best VIP rewards for high wagering, Stake could be a good choice. But please read this review before you do so, to know all the facts.

Here are the pros and cons for Stake. Even though I listed 5 pros, I would weigh the 4 cons more heavily. Especially the Trust Score based on Redditors feelings’ is not on a level as it should be for a market leader.

Pros

  • Just awesome UI: Arguably the fastest, most mobile-optimized interface in the industry.
  • High rewards: The VIP Rakeback system is mathematically superior for grinders compared to almost any competitor.
  • Provably fair originals: 99.0% RTP on many in-house games.
  • Solid background: High financial stability; proven ability to absorb $40M+ losses without affecting user balances.
  • Instant routine payouts: Small to mid-sized withdrawals are typically processed and on-chain within minutes.

Cons

  • Low Trust Score: Surprisingly, the online sentiment on Reddit and forums are below average level based on my studies.
  • The “KYC Wall”: High risk of aggressive Level 4 verification (Source of Wealth) exactly when attempting to withdraw large wins.
  • Strict VPN Policy: Unlike nerdy cryptocasinos, Stake actively enforces geo-blocking and can seize funds for VPN use.
  • Adjustable RTP: Terms explicitly allow them to lower slot odds without notifying the player.

Casino overview & history

The history of Stake is a rapid ascent from a niche hobby to a multibillion-dollar global empire. I first encountered Stake in June 2019, according to my old review site archives. Back then, Stake was only a small provably fair Bitcoin casino, with just few more games than traditional dice sites.

Stake was founded by two Australian entrepreneurs, Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani in 2017. But before that, these two fellows launched PrimeDice in 2013. I also remember that back in my old reviewer days, and I actually reviewed Primedice to my old site a bit later than Stake, in August 2019.

Anyone remember this? May I present to you Stake in its first form in 2017. Image from Web Archive of course.

It’s kind of unbelievable when I think the run Stake has made from 2017 to present day. Back in 2017, Stake had only 12 games. Still, the selection was better than on most simple Bitcoin dice sites: there were Blackjack, Roulette, Hilo, Diamond Poker, Keno and Mines to name a few.

Stake’s true global explosion occurred during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Personally, I missed this phase totally on Stake, as I was away from crypto casino reviewing job somewhere after 2020 (but now back in the game).

Stake turned towards influencer marketing, paying streamers like Trainwreckstv, Adin Ross, and xQc millions to gamble live on Twitch. This era was defined by the Drake Effect, where reported $100 million annual partnership with the rapper that brought crypto gambling into the mainstream pop-culture. During this period, revenue surged from roughly $100 million to over $2 billion in just two years. This is just crazy.

This is the form I remember Stake, when I first encountered the site. Still, only few games, but the dark color scheme was already there. Image from Web Archive, 2020.

By 2024, Stake transitioned from a more gray market (or Bitcoin enthusiast) site to a massive sports sponsor, becoming the title partner of the Sauber Formula 1 Team (Stake F1 Team) and the UFC. However, regulatory pressure was a new friend. In 2025, Stake officially exited the UK market following a high-profile Gambling Commission investigation.

I have to write this again. Of course, all businesses have to start somewhere, in the garage or in the one guy’s laptop. Still, I can’t do anything else than admire the huge success Stake has achieved, knowing where it started in 2017.

To be honest, I kind of wished that Stake would have scored better on the next chapter with the Trust Score. With the resources and money Stake makes each month, they could do so much more to protect players and give a better experience in all kinds of situations.

But, I am just your data messenger, so don’t shoot me. Let’s hope Stake can change the course in the future.

Trust score

After my AI-powered analysis, Stake Casino gets a Trust Score of 30.2 (Risky).

The analysis period was 24 months, from March 2024 to March 2026. The AI search crawled mostly Reddit and also forums like Bitcointalk.

The review volume was very high with 450 valid comments, of which 134 are positive and 316 negative.

Tons of of comments (1850) were discarded due to spam, affiliate links, short comments or comments made by bots.

Stake Casino – Comment data

  • Valid positive comments (P): 134 (29.8%)
  • Valid negative comments (N): 316 (70.2%)
  • Total valid comments (T): 450 (100.0%)
  • Comments discarded: 1850

As a result, the below is the calculation of the Trust Score.

Stake Casino – Trust Score

Trust Score formula:

100P+8T+20100\cdot\frac{P+8}{T+20}

Trust Score calculation:

100134+8450+20=30.2(Risky)100\cdot\frac{134+8}{450+20} = 30.2 \:\text{(Risky)}

So this is how my mathematical formula outputs the Trust Score of 30.2 (Risky) for Stake.

The full Trust Score scale can be seen below, and you can see where Stake sits on overall. Why the rating scale is so strict? Read more about my review methodology here.

✍️ Trust Score Scale Explained

My algorithm analyzes thousands of Reddit comments, and the Trust Score is calculated from the data. The grading is strict — most casinos fail. A score above 50 is exceptional.

65 – 100 Trusted
50 – 64 Good
35 – 49 Average
20 – 34 Risky
0 – 19 Avoid

The both 7-day and 30-day overrides were passed, but only very closely.

This means that on both timeframes the sentiment didn’t rise above the 75% negative feedback threshold. This override would tell if there would be a rug pull scam or some other bigger withdrawal issue going on.

Reddit sentiment

I always do a manual check of Reddit sentiment with my non-AI eyes.

The very negative sentiment on Stake was a surprise for me. I would have thought that the leading online and crypto casino in the world would be the leader, because it just does things better than others.

But, in this case this might not be the case. There are a lot of stories about KYC problems when a player has won big.

Users report that they can play for months with no verification, but the second a Big Win is hit or a five-figure withdrawal is requested, the system triggers a Level 4 KYC audit. This often includes a request for 3 months of bank statements or live video verification. This is a barrier many crypto-native users find intrusive or impossible to fulfill, leading to the scam sentiment and accusations. Of course we don’t know all the details, if there has been some breaking of T&C etc., but anyway this seems to be very dominant on Reddit.

My hunch is, that Stake has achieved its position with heavy marketing and clever use of social media influencers. When you get that #1 position globally, you don’t necessarily have to treat players well. From Stake’s position, they can just maximize winnings with very tight KYC policies and voiding player winnings here and there. I could be wrong, but this is my first thought when reading all over Reddit.

On the positive side, many players praise the Stake’s VIP rakeback system. The sentiment here is that if you are a high-volume grinder, no other casino offers better automated rewards. The UI is consistently cited as the gold standard for crypto casinos, fast, glitch-free, and mobile-optimized.

I can personally also confirm this. The UI is really simple to use, graphically it’s perfect and speed (like changing a page or loading a slot) is much better than in many other casinos. The speed comes from servers and speed costs money. It’s a good thing that Stake is not cutting costs on that.

Bonuses

Out of the box, Stake doesn’t offer any first deposit bonuses or rakeback deals, that are common in other crypto casinos.

Or, let me be honest. Some crypto casino review sites do offer for rakeback deals or even first deposit bonuses to Stake, but you have to use their bonus code (Google if you want to find them).

My site cryptocasinos.ai is so small and new, so I don’t have the leverage yet to negotiate with giants like Stake. So I will just list here the standard bonuses everyone can get at some point.

Here they are:

Stake standard bonuses

  • If you reach Bronze level ($10,000 lifetime wager), you will get 5% Rakeback. The levels go through Silver, Gold, Platinum up to Diamond V.
  • On Bronze level, you get 5% of the House Edge back on every bet, whether you win or lose. Example: Betting $100 on a 2% edge game returns $0.10.
  • Level-Up Bonuses: Fixed crypto rewards given every time you move to a new tier (Silver, Gold, Platinum, etc.).
  • Raffles and Races: There are a lot of daily, weekly and monthly races and raffles where you can win big prizes based on your wagering or just pure luck.

I scanned the bonus terms with AI and my own eyes and here are my findings.

Bonus terms

Here are the most important bonus terms of Stake casino.

  • You must wager 100% of your deposit before you are allowed to withdraw any funds, even if you did not claim a specific welcome bonus. This is a fairly standard anti-money laundering (AML) measure.
  • Wagering requirements are calculated based on a 4% House Edge.
    • Explanation: Not all games contribute equally to your bonus rollover.
    • Standard: A game with a 4% house edge completes at a 1x rate ($1 wagered = $1 toward bonus).
    • Low Edge: A game with a 1% house edge (like certain Blackjack or Dice settings) completes 4x slower. You would have to wager $4 to count $1 toward the bonus.
    • Sportsbook: Calculated at a 3% house edge, contributing $0.75 for every $1 wagered.
  • Wagers are always placed with cash balances before bonus balances are used.
  • Dozens of high-RTP slots and specific providers are completely prohibited while a bonus is active.
    • If you have an active bonus, Stake blocks you from playing specific games (e.g., Dead or Alive, Blood Suckers, Book of 99).
    • Attempting to bypass this or playing these games via technical errors is often classified as Bonus Abuse.
  • Bonuses must be claimed within 60 days, and once a bonus is forfeited or deactivated, it cannot be recovered.
  • Stake can adjust the house edge of any slot game at its discretion without notice.
    • As discussed here later in this review, this is vital for bonus players. If the house edge is increased while you are trying to clear a bonus, it effectively makes the bonus harder to clear by decreasing your odds of maintaining a balance during the rollover.

Game selection

Stake currently hosts a massive library exceeding 4000+ titles, significantly bolstered by their partnership with the Hub88 casino game integration platform.

Stake collaborates with over 120+ game studios globally. Please note that the full list may be different depending on your geographical location.

Game providers on Stake Casino

Major giants

These are the industry heavyweights that provide the bulk of the high-traffic slots and standardized mechanics.
Examples: Nolimit City, Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Red Tiger, Play’n GO, Microgaming (Games Global), Big Time Gaming.

Boutique & crypto-focused

These studios are known for high volatility, unique Bonus Buy -features, and aesthetics that appeal specifically to the crypto gambling community.
Examples: Popiplay, Hacksaw Gaming, Push Gaming, Relax Gaming, Thunderkick, Print Studios, ELK Studios

Live dealer specialists

The firms responsible for the real-time streaming technology and professional game show hosts.
Examples: Playtech, Evolution Gaming, Pragmatic Play Live, Bombay Live.

Others

Niche providers and aggregators that fill the library with specialized or regional content.
Examples: Wazdan, Endorphina, GameArt, Spinomenal, Booongo, Belatra, BGaming

RTP transparency

Stake Originals (Games like Dice, Plinko, and Limbo) usually feature a fixed 99.0% return to player (RTP). Stake is one of the few casinos that explicitly displays the house edge (typically 1%) directly in the game interface. This 99.0% RTP is very good and you probably cannot find a better anywhere, except maybe from a dedicated crypto-only boutique (=nerdy) dice sites.

A critical finding in current 2026 terms is that Stake has a clause allowing them to request specific RTP settings from providers. For example, a slot that could run at 96.5% might be set to 94.5% on Stake to offset their massive VIP rakeback costs. Specifically, Clause 10.5 states:

Stake terms & conditions:

“We reserve the right to adjust the house edge of any slot game at our sole discretion and without prior notice, as may be necessary to maintain the integrity, fairness, and overall balance of the gaming environment.
In the event of any discrepancy between Stake’s House Edge and the Return to Player (RTP) percentage displayed in-game, please contact our Customer Support team for clarification. We accept no liability whatsoever should you choose to place a wager in reliance on any such discrepancy.”

At least for my ears, this doesn’t sound very good. It’s really hard (or impossible) to proove if this has happened before or will happen at some point.

Provably fair games

Stake’s proprietary Originals games (like Dice, Plinko, Mines) utilize a Provably Fair system, allowing players to verify the algorithmic randomness of every single bet independently.

Withdrawals

In addition to my Trust Score, I analyzed the Reddit and forum sentiment for withdrawals. I scanned about 500 comments, where 380 of them were discarded due to spam, and 120 valid comments were found about withdrawals.

The sentiment for Stake withdrawals was 94% positive and 6% negative. The negative comments were primarily about Level 4 KYC traps, suspect wagering audits or VPN location discrepancies.

Generally, withdrawal speed was reported around 6.5 minutes. Withdrawals flagged for Source of Wealth or Risk Audit saw a delay ranging from 72 hours to even 3 weeks.

Furthermore, the online sentiment on Stake withdrawals can be divided into two groups.

Instant reputation: Reddit users generally agree that for small to mid-sized wins ($100 – $2000), Stake is very good for speed. Users frequently praise the automated nature of the withdrawals.

Audit wall: The most frequent complaint involves players hitting a Max Win or a significant streak. Players report that Stake allows deposits instantly but weaponizes KYC level 3 and 4 at the point of a large withdrawal, asking for bank statements and video verification that can take weeks to process.

The verdict on withdrawals is this: If you are a casual player, the speed is 10/10. If you are a high-stakes winner, the withdrawal trustworthiness drops as Source of Funds problems may become certain.

Support, KYC & safety

I like my wine and very important details dry, so here they come.

Customer support

Customer support is primarily handled through a 24/7 Live chat feature integrated directly into the platform, though it is gated behind user login. There is also an email support in support@stake.com.

KYC policy & Terms scan

I read through the Stake terms & conditions and here are the most important findings.

VPN Usage: While many crypto casinos turn a blind eye to VPNs, Stake explicitly outlaws them if a player tries to avoid regional blocks. If a player from a prohibited jurisdiction (like the US or Australia) wins big while using a VPN, Stake has the contractual right to confiscate the winnings and ban the account.

KYC and Anonymity: Stake’s Know Your Customer (KYC) framework is absolute and uncompromising. Clause 4.8 of the T&C is the critical mechanism here: Stake reserves the right to ask for KYC documentation at any time to determine identity and location, and can freeze all payments until satisfied.

Stake sportsbetting screen.
Stake has also very extensive sportsbetting side along the casino side.

Licensing & Company transparency

Operator: Stake is highly transparent regarding its corporate structure. The core operator is Medium Rare N.V., based in Curaçao. To handle complex fiat payment processing globally, they utilize wholly-owned subsidiaries located in Cyprus (Medium Rare Limited and MRS Tech Ltd). This dual-structure is standard for massive offshore gambling operations to facilitate banking relationships.

License: Stake is licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority under license number OGL/2024/1451/0918, which is pretty basic stuff for almost all crypto casinos.

Security & Fairness

Website security: Stake uses a standard SSL technology and encrypted databases.

Account Security: Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is available and is highly recommended imho.

Solvency & Trust: According to Stake T&C Clause 9.1: Player funds are held in segregated customer bank accounts and crypto wallets. This means user deposits are not used for the company’s operational expenses or marketing budgets, greatly reducing the risk of a liquidity crisis. Generally, I would think that being a market leader in crypto casinos, Stake should never have problems with solvency, unless they mess up things totally (like FTX style).

Gambling problem tools

Stake provides a robust Stake Smart portal. If a player loses control, they can initiate a self-exclusion ranging from 6 months to permanently. Once enacted, the T&C states this cannot be revoked under any circumstances. Basic stuff that’s good to be there when needed.

Red flags & Historical issues

When evaluating Stake’s history, the most prominent red flag occurred in September 2023, when Stake suffered a high-profile security breach by North Korean Lazarus Group resulting in the theft of approximately $41.3 million in cryptocurrency from their hot wallets. While Stake absorbed the loss entirely from their own reserves and no user funds were impacted, it highlighted the perpetual risk of centralization in crypto gambling.

Additionally, the most common historical grievance from the community is the classic KYC Trap, where players are allowed to deposit freely, but face hard documentation requests only upon attempting a large withdrawal.

Is Stake legit?

Yes. Stake is the largest and most legitimate crypto casino operating globally today. They hold valid licenses, sponsor major sporting entities (like the UFC and Everton FC), and possess the financial solvency to pay out multi-million dollar wins instantly.

On the other hand, after analyzing thousands of Reddit and forum comments, the Trust Score came out quite low. This tells that the player sentiment online is not on a level as it should be with a market leader.

Players must accept that they are dealing with a massive corporate entity that enforces its terms and conditions rigidly. It should be a safe platform, if you don’t play from restricted country, avoid VPNs, and are prepared to verify your identity. For smaller amounts, Stake is more trustworthy, but for high-rollers (or if you happen to win big), the risk of KYC trap increases.

The verification – By my wife Johanna

This always strikes me: why a company with a great brand and great resources doesn’t reach higher? Stake is the most hyped crypto casino, and yet it scores lower than BitStarz and Wild.io, for example. Though, in my search Stake scored a bit higher than in Jake’s.

Both analyses independently flagged the KYC wall as the dominant negative theme. Jake’s review nails it when it describes Stake as the casino that “weaponizes KYC at the point of a large withdrawal.”

My CTA for Stake is: raise the bar! And for the player: Stake is fine for casual sessions under a few hundred dollars. More about Johanna here.

Time for a steak

When I work hard and write hard, I get hungry. Now it’s time for a juicy steak, preferably medium-rare. Wait…what was the company’s name again?
